The Crow The Third Book of Pellinor Pellinor Series Alison Croggon Books

The third book in the Pellinor series tells of Hem's part in finding the Treesong, which his sister, Maerad has been searching for in the North. Hem has been taken in by Saliman, Cadvan's best friend, and is living in Turbansk, one of the southern Seven Kingdoms. Unfortunately, this is where the war between Dark and Light breaks out.

I enjoyed this book more than the first two. It seems to have more action and less explanation, which is understandable because it does describe front line battles, training, and spying missions. It also tells more about mind -touch, which Hem uses to talk with his pet crow, and describes some of the other types of magic used by Bards.

This is one of the best YA Fantasy Series that I have ever read. I highly recommend it for mid to older teens, mostly due to the amount of violence in the books.

The Crow The Third Book of Pellinor Pellinor Series Alison Croggon Books Reviews

I was very excited to get my hands on this book. I have been ordering this series from .co as they are released as I can get them several months ahead on their American counter parts. I must say that I was disappointed with the beginning of the book. First- Hem is not the character that I wanted to read about. Second- the start is slow and the plot drags a little. But- all is forgiven after 100 pages. I warmed up to Hem. I actually think that the authors writting style has improved each book and this book just feels right. I was done reading way before I wanted to be done. The ending is nothing but action. I put the book down entertained and wanting more. What else can you ask for in a work of fiction
At first I did not like Hem. He was only a side character in the first two books. Why was this whole third book his adventure.

But oh what an adventure it was. Tour out my heart and stomped on it for good measure. Now that is how to write a good adventure story.
I really like this author and this series compares to Harry Potter series in imagination and depth of characters. Looking forward to the fourth book
I read the other books in this series in middle school. I then picked up this sequel in high school and found I couldn't get past the first few chapters because it was just so boring. Perhaps the author is a bit too descriptive in her depiction of the events and setting, or it's just a slow plot. You can read it and find out if you want. I'm really disappointed because I wanted to finish reading the series. It started off great!
Love this series! So interesting and captivating haven't finished them yet but honestly don't want the story to be over! Read the first book in middle school and then lost it and finally found the series again and I now enjoy reading them as an adult.
This is the more difficult book of the four to enjoy. Much of the book takes place in dark places, putting Hem in dark circumstances. Imagine Pippin and Merry being dragged by the Orks for most of a book. But Croggon is a great writer and she kept me awake nights, and waking early mornings, to find out what happened next, even on my second time through. And of course, now, I have to go straight on to the final book of the four, and am again grateful not to have to wait, this time through, for the book to be written and published!
Book three switches from Maerad's perspective to her brother Hem. His journey is also dark and twisted as he follows a perilous path. Not until the end does the reader understand the importance of his quest. This book at first is childish, like it is written from a real 12 year old's point of view, but later in the book, in the Den Raven part, Hem matured tremendously since he has endured many hardships so he has hardened. I loved all the characters. The plot is well weaved and fully understandable while the multiple conflicts were intriguing. The resolution made sense and was good at explaining unanswered questions throughout the book. There are no other words other than this for this book AWESOME
